Accu-Armour Coated Sleeves

CAP’s Customized Trap Bar sleeves feature Accu-Coat’s, Accu-Armour coating. The Accu-Armour proprietary process utilizes an industrial/military spec coating used in high performance, high wear components. This coating is corrosion / rust resistant and remarkably durable.

Accu-Coat Knurling

The knurled areas on CAP’s Customized Trap Bar are also coated using Accu-Armour coating processes. This Accu-Coat generated coating provides a solid medium gripping surface that is rust/corrosion resistant and easy to clean. No wire cleaning brush required!

3-Step Coating Process

The remaining areas on the CAP Customized Trap Bar are coated using Accu-Coat’s proprietary 3 step coating process. The colored coating is complimented by an UV stable acrylic clear coat with metallic flake to further protect and enhance the look of the bar.

Reviews of CAP Custom Olympic 2-Inch Combo Hex Trap Bar

Review 1: Photos, super pleased. Plus a tip.

Very happy lifter here.

Like other reviewers mention, zinc coating rubs off, so I wiped the entire thing down with a damp rag (which turned black). I think the thing will rust over time, but who cares (it’ll look cool, like Bradley Cooper’s in American Sniper).

Strong welds. Perfectly true and “square”. My RAW collar-locks work on it well, no slipping. This is #50 and feels heavier. I’m so glad that I got this and not the Heavy Duty one by Cap that is #80, which would be harder to lean or hang and store and have handles that are larger, harder to grip. The one-inch grip and knurling on this model is ideal, and does work with straps, too.. I love Rogue Fitness products, and almost got theirs for $340, shipped. So glad I got this one instead; does everything I need it to do.

Appears that I can put 4, maybe five, Oly #45 plates with collar on each end, so that’s at least #180, and maybe even #225, per end. So, including the bar weight, that’s #410 minimum, and perhaps as much as #500. It’s weight-rated for #750, which would necessitate very uncommon #100 Oly plates. I like that it’s shorter than the Cap Heavy Duty bar, too, that sells on Amazon for about $160. 💪. The expensive Rogue bars are rackable on Power Rack, which I figured might be good. But they’re 88 inches long! And, frankly, I’ll not use mine in the rack (and if I did, I’d set it on my power rack dip bars or across a bench).

Superb for lunges, shrugs, squats, deadlifts. I wanted a means to save my back as regular squats and front squats were starting to ruin my spine. I thought I’d be limited here by my grip strength, but guess what I do? I wear my Champion dip belt and toss the chain of the dip belt around the front bar of this Hex Bar. I then hold it a little further back on the handles; the device rotates a bit forward then and the weight goes through the dip belt chain, into my dip belt and thus is held by my hips! I’d estimate that I can transfer 75% of the weight to the belt with only 25% still in my hand grips by doing this (I adore dip belts). Give it a whirl! 👀

Hope this review helped and if you have any questions, let me know. Great product (which is more than I can say for the Cap brand EZ curl bar which I reviewed a month ago). Bye now.

Review 2: Don’t believe the negative reviews – This bar is the real deal

Don’t Believe The Negative Reviews. This thing is awesome! Like most people who’ve purchased one, my purpose was to be able to do dead-lifts despite having a less-than-cooperative lower-back. It’s kind of funny how I came to buy this. Allow me to explain…

I recently worked up the courage to add the dreaded dead-lift to my workout routine. I have always had a troublesome lower-back so I made sure to watch tons of videos and read oodles of literature on proper form. So on day 1 of dead-lifts I threw out my back. What a surprise! I actually made it to my 4th set but then lost focus and my form slipped and…zing! That was the end of my dead-lifting career.

No big deal. I’m in my, ahem, forties so who am I fooling – I’ll just resort to doing squats like a normal schlub. And then, I came across an ad on Craigslist for a hex bar. Not even knowing what it was I clicked on the photos and noticed there was a picture of a guy doing a dead-lift but without the awful leverage that’s normally associated with it. But wait – bonus! The bar was actually listed as a “Trap bar” (this is really why I delved into the ad to be honest). I love jacking my traps and, as you may already know, it’s difficult to hit your overload potential with conventional weights. Enter the trap, I mean hex, bar. Now I can load up several hundred pounds and shrug to my heart’s content! So the possibilities with this thing are incredible.

When it finally arrived (only 3 days later, by the way) it was wrapped pretty much as I expected, based on prior reviews. I’d say it took me 5 minutes with a kitchen knife to free it from its wrapper – no big deal (it’s amazing what some people will COMPLAIN about!) Next, I loaded it up with 2 45’s and 2 25’s. Dead-lifted it! And that’s with a bad back. I still can’t believe how smart a design this is and, more importantly, why it took me so long to discover it. So glad I did.

Now, as far as the paint chipping thing people are complaining about – I don’t know. Mine seems pretty clean. It also looks and feels solid. So if you’re on the fence about buying this – get off now and add it to your cart – you WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.

Review 3: Sturdy

I’ve loaded it up to 515lbs and no issues with the welded joints or stress fractures that I can see. I am impressed with the construction. For this price, this is an awesome piece of equipment.

I know it’s not one of the traditional “Big Three” (Squat, Bench, Dead) but it takes all the stress off of the lower back for the pull on the Dead-lift. I have lower back issues and this works around those issues.

Hope that helps all those looking for a substitution to the “dead”
