What is bumper plate?
The “end state” of the Olympic lifts is overhead or at the shoulder. Many lifters drop the weights from overhead. Since bumper plates are almost entirely rubber, being dumped from the shoulder or overhead will not damage the weights, bar, floor, bystanders, the lifter, etc…
Additionally, bumpers are popular in the Crossfit community since many Crossfitters practice the Olympic lifts, and other Crossfit exercises (thrusters, presses) end in the overhead position.
What exercises can I do with bumper plates?
Snatch
Clean and Jerk
Press
Thruster
Deadlift
Squat
Bench
Overhead lunge
And even more!

Reviews of 260 Lbs New Bumper Plates Set Olympic Plates Solid Plates Weight Plates for Crossfit Training Weight Lifting Gym By Onefitwonder
Review 1: They make me as rigid as the plates themselves
This company is awesome! When I bought these, I did not realize the estimated delivery date would have such a huge gap. I am bringing this set to my summer home this weekend. I sent a simple note thanking them and asking if these could possibly be delivered by the end of the week. I received an email saying they will do what they could. Wow! That day, I received an email saying these were shipped and two days later a neatly stacked pile of boxes were laying at my door.
I have never had such excellent communication with a seller. Nor have I ever received weights with the boxes still in tacked as well as they were. It looked as if I went to the store myself and dropped them off at my own door. I order Cap #45 and the weights are seriously falling out of the boxes. These had two boxes tapped together with multiple weights and just ascetically pleasing to see such care in the delivery.
These plates are phenomenal. They fit on my bars way better than any iron I previously put on them. My CAP #45 when single stacked on my curl bar on the floor, the weights tend to turn-inward even with lock-jaw collars; not these bad boys. The seller, the manufacture, the distributer…You are all awesome!! A true testament of American ingenuity, integrity, and business brains!
As for the smell, they are rubber. They are going to smell. I bought an outdoor patio mat (rubber) from home depot that I use as a gym floor in my home office. That thing smells worse than these. it took over three months to get that rubber smell out. Personally, it doesn’t bother me at all.
Maybe thats because I am not a WHINEY LITTLE BITCH. But hey, thats just me. If you don’t like the smell of rubber buy iron and mess your floors and equipment up. If you want something that will sit right on your bars and take a beating, buy these. You want to man up, bulk up, tighten up, grow up, and stop being a crying baby, “ooh they smell!” buy these.
Pros: They sit snuggly on my bars better than any of my IRON plates
They are durable
They are rigid as any other plate that I held in its class
they are labeled in Lbs and in Kg’s
That snug fit…oh so tight (I think I should have ordered lube to go with all that tightness)
The tens… so hard and rigid…
They are nearly spot on accurate in terms of weight
Great investment
Cons: I can’t buy more for a while
They cost more than IRON
NO CONS THAT ARE WORTH BEING A WHINY SPOILED AMERICAN BITCH ABOUT
People need to stop crying about the smell of something so new and pure and innocent.
Review 2: Very Good and Cost Effective Bumper Plate Set
Very good product and value for price paid ($429).
I do not have much experience with bumper plates comparatively, however, these look like very good and durable quality bumper plates. I have only had them a day so far, so I cannot comment on durability or use just yet. A neighbor has almost all rogue equipment and aside from color and brand markings, I cannot tell much difference. Rogue might be better but can cost almost twice as much. Drop noise might be only difference.
Some reviewers did mention the smell coming from them and how it stunk up their house. There is a slight odor that emits from them, but nothing that has bothered us so far. They have stayed in a garage with humid weather and temperatures of 88 deg during the day and mid to high 70s at night.
Pros
-No issues with weight distribution and they feel like a balanced plate
-Most cost effective plates I have seen on Amazon
-Great starter set
-Seller Fringe got them here about a week earlier than expected
Cons
-Odor (I imagine this to be a problem for any rubber bumper plate)
-Bounce noise (could be bar related, but neighbors rogue set doesn’t seem to be as loud)
Review 3: The absolute best.
The absolute best bumper plates currently out there. These things are solid. Low bounce. The 10lb are THE BEST 10lb bumpers out there. The 10lb diameter is just slightly smaller than the rest of the bumpers so when you drop a loaded bar, the other bumpers absorb most of the shock first.
It also makes it very easy to progressively load the bar. The 10lb bumpers are super rigid and super strong. They don’t flop around like some bumpers and they don’t separate from the inserts after repeated dropping. In fact, I bought an extra pair of OFW 10lb bumpers just for the convenience of progressively loading the bar. All the bumpers fit nice and snug on the bar. No loose or wobbly bumpers. Don’t just take my word for it. Do some research yourself. Go to Garage Gyms Dot Com and check out their review. These things are solid.
