At 6.2mm, the YogaAccessories™ Extra Thick Deluxe Yoga Mat is a full 1/4” thick, an extra long 74”, weighs almost 4 lbs, and is one of the thickest sticky mats on the market. The mats come in a variety of colors that are strong and vivacious, but not overpowering in their brightness – and of course, completely latex and heavy metal free, plus no phthalates are used in the inks and dyes.
This well-made exercise mat will add comfort to your yoga workouts. Because of its high quality, this deluxe mat will last longer than most standard foam mats. When shopping around for a yoga mat, note that what many other companies call a 1/4” mat is actually 4.5 – 5.2 mm in thickness — considerably thinner than this mat. A thicker non-slip mat is good for all types of yoga, especially for restorative poses. Reward yourself and your body with an Extra Thick Deluxe Yoga Mat, and see why this is the most popular sticky mat found in yoga studios, schools, fitness clubs, and at home!
Looking for a unique yoga mat? YogaAccessories™ Extra Thick Deluxe Yoga Mats are also available in the Chakra Series or custom printed with your own logo or design — in the same vibrant colors that make our yoga mats so appealing.
Reviews of YogaAccessories (TM) 1/4” Extra Thick High Density Mat
Review 1: Good quality, comfortable mat with just a little bit of slip
I purchased this yoga mat in Teal Green. The color is darker in person than it is in the display photos, but I’m generally happy with it. Measuring in at 1/4″ it’s just the right thickness and the long length is absolutely perfect. The only downside is that it’s a tiny bit slippery. I haven’t had any serious issues with this, but it’s definitely worth mentioning and taking note of. If the slip factor is an issue for you, either avoid this mat or try pairing it with a towel or yoga socks.
As you’ll see in the photos, I’ve also purchased a “2 in 1 Stretch Strap / Mat Sling” to carry my mat and assist my stretches! The two make a great pair and the strap can be found here: 2-IN-1 Premium Lightweight Yoga Stretch Strap Belt & Mat Carrier Sling. 6 foot Long, 100% Cotton. Perfect Yoga Accessory for Women, Men, Beginners to Pros. Fits All Yoga Mats & Maintain Poses.
Review 2: Good mat but the colors are off.
I started taking a yoga class in school and needed a mat. The specs fulfilled my basic needs, it was cheaper than ones sold on campus, and there were lots of colors to choose from. I picked the color “Soothing Sea” and it’s much more blue than the picture.
It took a little longer than expected for my order to process and even though the shipping was quick, I didn’t receive the mat in time for my class. I ended up buying another mat elsewhere (I’ll call it Mat #2). So now I have two mats, but this gives me something for comparison.
The YogaAccessories mat is indeed longer than Mat #2. It doesn’t have a really strong plastic smell like Mat #2, but there is still a smell to it. The YogaAccessories mat claims to be high density- I’m not quite sure what this means, but the mat feels squishier than Mat #2. My hands slip on the mat when doing downward facing dog, but perhaps I need to wash it down.
Overall, I think it’s a good mat and it works for me. I think the off color bugs me the most.
Review 3: A little slippy out of the box. Gets the job done after cleaning.
I have never done yoga in my life. I am an athletic 30 something male and into sports so I gave yoga a try. I read a lot of reviews on other mats and went with this one.
Thickness: Perfect. It might be a tad “full” but I have no problems with it and i wouldn’t want to go higher or lower than 1/4″. It stays in my truck. I use an old mp3 player arm band to wrap it so it stays intact.
Odor:It did NOT smell like other people have said.
Color:I went with “soothing sea”, well because it says soothing, and its fine. Color I don’t care about.
Slipperiness: I take a Hot Power Yoga class where the room is about 90 degrees. I sweat A LOT. During the first class, i was sliding around quite a bit and getting frustrated. So I read reviews and advice on fixing this. I hand washed it under the shower head with a little detergent. Took a little while to get the soap out though. Next time I will try the washing machine like others have said. Then I hang dried for a couple days. Every class since then, the slipperiness has subsided and is now a great tacky/sticky mat.
Instructions: None were included. It would have been nice if they would have said to wash it before use.
Bottom Line: I did not want to splurge to get a costly mat because I did not know if I would even do yoga for years to come. This mat has been adequate so far after 5 sweaty classes and I think it should last a couple years. However, because of the cleaning aspect it might be worth it to spend the extra $20 to get Aurorae Classic Yoga Mats – Ultra Thick, Extra Long with Rising Moon Focal point Icon, Illuminating Colors, Eco Safe, Free from Phthalates and Latex. From the reviews it sounds like the slipperiness isn’t an issue on those mats.
