Reviews of Mechanix Wear MGV-55-009 Original Vent Glove
Review 1: Great Shooting Range Glove, they fit snug and feel great, I think I like these more then the basic original, great for summer!
AWESOME GLOVES!!!! So I was on the hunt for a set of handgun range shooting gloves … I have the regular Mechanix gloves in my AR15 bag that I use for outdoor range gloves (and also for work gloves as well when needed) but wanted a set of gloves a lot like those but thinned and smaller on my hand for use with shooting my handguns at the local indoor range etc.
These Fit Like A Glove (pun intended…lol) … They are a bit thinner then the basic non-vent originals, fit almost as perfect (I wear M) as the originals since they are a TINY bit snugger … and don;t be thrown off by this …. if you wear M then buy the M in the vents … they just fit more snug is all which is almost perfect for my use of wanting more feel on my smaller handgun … I like then thinner a more snug cause I feel like I can control and feel things much better.
They are vented but man these are just as rugged as the others
Overall for my purpose they are a 10 and for Any other use they will score just as high as well.
Love the Covert … I hate the machanix branding on all other gloves other then covert and coyote.
If you are on the fence about these go for it.
And if you want a solid shooting glove these fit the bill Perfect!!!!!
Review 2: Nice gloves, better than most.
Great for outdoors, shooting, working on car, yard work etc. Very light weight breathable gloves. My brother bought a pair, and I was impressed. Very pleased.
These gloves are so much better fitted and more comfortable than average mechanics work gloves. Like the security loop to attach to dummy cord.
Update: Still 5 star review but a few things I’ve noticed. 1. They only add a tiny bit of warmth when worn in cold weather; but in hot weather they are bearable. 2. They help protect hands but not as much as thick synthetic or leather gloves. For example I went on hike this weekend and when we stopped to rest and eat I was getting off the rock shelf and put my hand on a tiny round cactus. Spines when right through these gloves like a hot knife through butter.
They are really lightweight and pack-able and prevent callouses when handling trekking rods, rope, etc. After having them for quite some time I still feel they are 5 star…. but if you are military or LE or are in serious bush these might not be enough to protect your hands.
Review 3: Hardworking gloves: great for water, hot climates, even shooting
These are the best and the VENT version is hard (if not, impossible) to find in a store. I originally bought these for a GoRuck Challenge event. We’re on the ocean and I knew I’d be in the water, so I was excited to find a vented version. They performed exactly as planned. The hole in the palm and finger area drain the water immediately. And the material doesn’t soak up and hold water. You don’t feel like you need to take them off and ring them out. Most gloves will also get really stiff or break down after prolonged exposure to water (especially salt water). No issues like that with these.
After the GoRuck, I continued to wear them multiple times a month for SWAT training and operations, for another 15 months before one of the fingers started to lose it’s stitching at the tip and blow out. They also got a little stretched out over time, as to be expected. I bought another pair for work and keep my old pair around the house where I still use them for woodworking, etc.
These provide excellent dexterity for a working-man’s type of glove and perform great as a shooting glove. I’ve worn quite a few different types for shooting and usually have to cut off the trigger finger. I never felt the need to do that with these. I can reload mags, feel the trigger and manipulate rifle control with ease. Price is a key point to mention too. Most “Tactical” gloves are expensive as crap and half the quality….for sub $20, there’s no comparison.
Keep in mind, if you’re in a cold weather climate, these will do little to keep you warm. I live in a very hot, humid climate which makes these even better. I can wear these all day sweating and my hands don’t come out of them looking like prunes.
