Reviews of X-TrainFit At Home Workout – Women’s Complete Fitness
Review 1: This fitness program really works.
This fitness program really works. You have to commit about an hour a day to complete the program, but we should all be making at least that investment in our personal health anyway right? It offers diverse exercises and workouts to help alleviate boredom and demonstrates the workouts at varying levels of difficulty.
I thought the program might be too tough for me. I was pretty out of shape. I’m also a little older and have a few joint issues.
The modification levels demonstrated allowed me to start out at an easier level and build myself up to the most challenging levels. I did not use the resources on their website or track my workouts at first and that was a mistake as I had a hard time staying motivated (as always), once I read through the training guide though and shared my fitness test with them online, I started using the guide and following the tips they provided me and it made a huge difference. I did the whole program with a small assortment of 5-15lb dumbbells I already had, and an old yoga mat. You will also need about a 6×12 feet you can comfortably move around in.
I managed to get through the whole 12 week program and have seen a real difference. I feel better than I have in ages and have a lot more energy.
Review 2: Good Workout in a Condensed Amount of Time
I looked for several months for a video exercise program that would take 30 minutes or fewer but that wouldn’t require learning choreographed movements by this clumsy klutz. This one fit the bill PERFECTLY. I previously had ordered Jillian’s “Body Revolution” but quickly tired of it because of Jillian’s snarky comments and because the people behind her were all 22-year-old hard bodies.
Plus Jillian’s “adaptations” were laughable. She only ever showed how to make things HARDER, not easier. (If I didn’t know any better, I would have sworn Jillian has absolutely NO EXPERIENCE working with middle-aged, obese people).
These videos by Stephanie Oram are wonderful — challenging enough but short enough that it someone like me, who is middle-aged and overweight, can get through them and come out feeling good on the other side. Each exercise shows an adaptation to make it EASIER for out-of-shaped middle aged people (I resemble that remark!), which of course will reduce potential injury and make it more likely for us to keep with the program.
These disks are also excellent in that you can choose to can the music or even the verbal instruction — which is wonderful when you’ve done them enough times that you no longer want to hear the comments (such as “Ooh, are you getting sweaty? You know me, ‘Sweaty Betty.” or “If you don’t squeeze your buns, no one else will, either.”
These comments are fine the first few times you go through the video but after a while you just want the workout, not the canned commentary. These well-produced videos make it possible to get rid of the monologue when you no longer want it. (I really wish Jillian’s Body Revolution videos offered that option!)
All in all, I have been impressed with these videos and have actually used them on a fairly regular basis and can start to feel the benefits in terms of improved strength and a tightening body. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who is a bit out of shape and who wants a decent workout that will take 30 minutes or fewer.
Review 3: THE REAL DEAL!!
I just received this DVD set today & I was initially going to wait a while before writing my review, but this system is so awesome, I couldn’t wait! I did “day 1” today, which is the Chest & Back workout, and I was drenched in sweat afterwards!! I was indeed a “Sweaty Betty.” I also previewed all the other workouts, so that I can write this review with confidence.
The workouts contain both toning & cardio exercises, which is a huge bonus (especially for busy adults). The exercises are done in sets of pyramids; you begin with 20 reps, and work your way down (I love this method). The workouts all contain sufficient warm ups & cool downs. Another huge bonus about these workouts is the time efficiency; all workouts are under 30 minutes.
I also really love the 30 day workout calendar; Stephanie planned the workouts very accordingly, so that you’re able to exercise on consecutive days without hammering the same muscles (allowing recovery). Another cool thing is the packaging; I like how the case is super thin & literally takes up minimal space in my collection of over 40 fitness DVDs.
The workouts contain basic, but effective exercises (for example, the Chest & Back workout contained push ups, chest flyes, rows, tuck jumps, football runs, mountain climbers, etc.). I would consider these workouts to be intermediate & beyond, but Stephanie does show modifications for those who need them. I also love the timer on the upper left corner that shows you exactly how much time you have left in your workout.
After reading some reviews on the other XTFMAX program, I was a bit worried that the production would be low quality, but this wasn’t the case at all. The filming was great (as long as you can see & hear the instructor clearly, that’s all that matters). Stephanie is very motivating throughout the entire workouts & it’s filmed in real time; Stephanie is literally right there sweating with you & even taking tiny breaks for water as needed.
I am extremely pleased with this program & I really appreciate how affordable it is!! I am obsessed with fitness DVDs; I own tons of them including all of the Biggest Loser workout DVDs & all of Jillian Michaels’ DVDs. This program is now on my top favorites. I plan on completing the full 30 days, which I’m sure will give great results.
One last thing, you can also do as many rotations of the 30 day plan as you want by increasing your weights!!
Bottom line: awesome program, great instructor & a wonderful price!!!
