xfitness Hand Grippers Review 1: 1 being easy and 6 difficult
Well-Made. I’m reviewing the 150 pound grippers here which are no.2 in the series of 6, 1 being easy and 6 difficult. The grippers are well made – nothing jiggles or anything. They do squeak a little when you use them. The handles are knurled and kind of tear into your fingers a little when the pressure is on.
They don’t slip too much when squeezing them. I’m 6 foot, 180 pounds, 55 years old, normal-sized hands, normal strength, not a weightlifter or anything and these 150 lb grippers provide a challenge. I can’t quite squeeze them hard enough to make the handles touch. I’d say i have normal grip strength, not a killer handshake, but not totally weak either.
I let about ten other people try them and only one guy could get the handles to touch. Even the strongest woman could only squeeze them about halfway. Hopefully this should give you an idea of which level to buy. Compared to the cheapy 5 dollar type with plastic handles, i could do 50-100 reps depending on the model, so these xfitness are harder – i’m only do reps of 5-10, and those are partials. Anyway, good challenge.

I recommend getting the 150 if there your first pair because its a lot harder than you think to get it closed multiple times at that weight and build into the larger ones as it gets easier. I’m 5’11 and 180 pounds and am always told i have a strong grip and they give a great workout.. as others have said you will have to toughen up your hands to use them as they hurt like hell at first but I enjoy that part my self.. as a computer tech I needed a little toughness to my palms as im sure most do =-)
xfitness Hand Grippers Review 3: A stupid simple device that actually works.
I really thought that this wouldn’t work, but I bought it anyway. I was definitely wrong. After just a week of using these daily, I’ve tripled the amount of reps I can do. I could barely, BARELY get 8 when I got the out of the box, now I can get 30 on both hands.
The most important result of these however is that they are evening out my grip strengths between my hands. I am right handed so my left hand has always been a little weaker, but I can notice my grip strength in the gym getting evened out (very noticeable during deadlifts and pull-ups).
Be careful though, because, as a few other reviewers have pointed out, if you over do it with these you can injure yourself. If you have never seriously worked out your forearms and then go ham on these suckers one day, be prepared to take some time off from the gym. Pace yourself.
I use these 4-5 days a week, typically with rest days before “pull days” at the gym (dead lifts, pull-ups)
I will be buying the 150lb after I can get 50 reps in a set on the 100lb
