I purchased this medicine ball to use with Cathe’s weight training DVDs. I use it mostly in core work and some in a “boot camp” style workout. The ball is the size of a regular medicine ball, it’s about 9″ in diameter. This is a good size for my needs; I was looking for something larger than a toning ball (like the Danskin). It has a unique “squishy” feel (my 3-year-old loves squeezing the ball)and it is fun to play with. The squishiness makes it easy to use for core work, like holding with you knees to do leg lifts. The only downside to this ball is that it has a smooth rubbery surface, which makes it a little slippery if your hands are sweaty. You can’t beat the price for a medicine ball. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an inexpensive ball to use as part of a weight lifting program.
this is probably my favorite medicines ball- I have purchased a few at wal-mart that was the right weight but was kind of “mushy”- this one is firm enough but not solid. I use it daily- and my son dropped of the roof for a science fair project and it did not break.
We really like this medicine ball. It is well balanced with a good weight. Be warned though, do not put it on any finished hard surface! Even in the winter cold months is discolored and warped the finish on a table and pergo floor!
I really like it. It’s squishy and seems like a sturdy sand bag. With that being said, its easy to hold with your knees without hurting because it takes a forgiving shape. This has taken my at-home workouts to the next level, I very happy with my purchase. I know that other reviews said that this ball possibly gives off color, but I have yet to have that experience. This medicine ball is the best “bang for you buck.” Highly recommended
